Nutrition Research Advocate Award

Established in 2025, the Nutrition Research Advocate Award honors a member of the Society for Pediatric Research ® (SPR) community for their outstanding contributions to nutrition services research. This award, sponsored by Abbott, provides recognition of excellence in nutrition research.

  • One recipient is selected annually
  •  Formal recognition at the PAS Meeting
  •  Complimentary registration to the PAS Meeting will be provided by SPR

Eligibility Criteria

  • Child health researchers committed to research excellence in nutrition
  • Proven record of successful contributions to the community and advancing child health  

Nomination Requirements

  • Self-nomination and/or peer nomination
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Bibliography of published works
  • Detailed letter of nomination
  • Two letters of support

Selection Process

  • The Committee for the SPR Nutrition Research Advocate will be solely responsible for recipient selection
  • Members of the selection committee are not permitted to nominate or support any nominations
  • The award will only be granted when there are eligible candidates
  • The award is supported by Abbott
  • The award winner will be under no obligation to Abbott

Current Recipient

Camilia (“Cami”) R. Martin, MD, MS, is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Chief Scientific Officer of the Charles H. Hood Foundation. She is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in neonatal nutrition and metabolism, whose work has shaped scientific understanding and clinical practice in the care of extremely preterm infants.
