SPR collaborates with leading national and international organizations to improve child health globally. These partnerships, facilitated through the Organizational Partnership Committee, help amplify the Society’s impact, benefiting pediatric researchers and the children and families they serve.
U.S. Collaborative Partners

APS is a leading pediatric society in North America, committed to advancing academic pediatrics and child health. SPR and APS share a long-standing relationship. Together, the Societies co-lead several initiatives:
- APS SPR Journey & Frontiers in Pediatric Research: An annual, peer mentorship program between early career investigators and pediatric leaders.
- APS SPR Mary Ellen Avery Neonatal Research Award: In honor of Dr. Mary Ellen Avery, this award recognizes a pediatric investigator who has made important contributions to neonatal health through basic or translational research.
- Pediatric Research Foundation (PRF): A joint fundraising organization supporting the shared goals of both Societies.
- Pediatric Research Journal and the International Pediatric Research Foundation (IPRF): SPR, APS, and the European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR) oversee the journal and IPRF.
AAP is the largest professional organization of pediatricians in the U.S., focused on the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. AAP serves as a key advocacy and programmatic partner to SPR.
- SPR has representatives on the AAP’s Council on Federal Government Affairs (COFGA) and Council on Pediatric Research (COPR)
- AAP provides administrative support for the Pediatric Policy Council (PPC), which SPR is a partner society.
- AAP is one of four partners of the annual Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting alongside SPR.
APA is a national organization of academic pediatric faculty focused on research, education, training, and child health advocacy. APA and SPR collaborate closely on initiatives that promote academic growth and research excellence:
- APA is one of four partners of the annual PAS meeting alongside SPR.
- APA is a partner society of the PPC.
AMSPDC is a professional organization representing chairs of academic pediatric departments in the U.S. and Canada. SPR engages with AMSPDC in joint policy and advocacy efforts through the PPC.
FOPO is a coalition of leading U.S. pediatric organizations who are shaping the future of pediatrics. SPR is a FOPO member, which enables members to collaborate on national initiatives such as workforce development, diversity, and pediatric research policy.




Regional SPR Organizations (Eastern, Western, Southern, and Midwest)
The Eastern, Western, Southern, and Midwest SPR societies are independent regional groups that foster research collaboration and professional development across North America. The SPR Organizational Partnership Committee provides a connection between SPR and regional organizations.
International Collaborative Partners

ESPR is a Europe-based society basic and clinical research to improve pediatric health worldwide. SPR and ESPR partner to promote international collaboration and scientific advancement:
- Pediatric Research Journal and the International Pediatric Research Foundation (IPRF): the SPR, APS, and ESPR oversee the journal and IPRF.
- Paediatric Research for the Future of Children: A Global Forum: SPR and ESPR launched this inaugural forum, bringing together 300 attendees from across the world to discuss important research and topics for the future.
- The societies offer travel awards to members of each organization to attend events in the U.S. and Europe.
JPS is Japan’s national pediatric organization focused on education, research, and the advancement of pediatric practice. SPR and JPS maintain a growing partnership that supports cross cultural exchange and research training:
- Fostering Leaders Program: This program pairs emerging Japanese pediatric researchers with U.S. labs to enhance their knowledge and career.
- The societies provide travel scholarships to members of each organization to attend events in the U.S. and Japan.
