The Society for Pediatric Research announces new members for 2025
HOUSTON, November 19, 2024 ā The Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) is pleased to announce 126 new members. SPR encourages and supports pediatric research endeavors by cultivating a diverse network of child health researchers through collaboration, community, mentorship, and advocacy. Collaboration among SPR members creates meaningful progress for the future of childrenās health.
Active members are independent researchers that have been nominated and seconded by SPR members and approved by SPR Council who are conducting hypothesis-related research in a field related to pediatrics.
Some benefits of SPR membership include:
- Research and presentation forum: SPR is the founding organization of theĀ PAS Meeting, the premier North American scholarly child health meeting. This annual gathering of 8,000 child health professionals is a forum for research presentation and discussion that is highly relevant to SPR membersā research endeavors. Each year, SPR members contribute original and invited science to the program and serve on key committees to shape the program.
- Honoring pediatric researchers: Each year, SPR honors the outstanding achievements of members through a prestigiousĀ awards program.
- Advocacy for child health research: TheĀ SPR works through theĀ Pediatric Policy Council (PPC) to ensure that lawmakers understand the value of dedicating resources for pediatric research. The SPR Advocacy Committee provides a leadership opportunity for members to advocate through government and public forums for issues related to the SPR mission, and the Society remains committed to advocating for policies that enable the advancement of child health.
- Developing pediatric researchers: SPR offers strategic and practical support for pediatric researcher members. Active members may serve as mentorsĀ to fellows and junior facultyĀ through theĀ SPR Emerging to Established (E2E) Member Section and theĀ PRomotion of FellOwSāĀ PEdiatricĀ ResearchĀ (PROSPER) Diversity Award, providing career development guidance. SPR offersĀ early stage investigatorsĀ special support through the Grant Writing Workshop for Pediatric Researchers and via the Bridging to Success grant. SPR Active Members host international fellows through the Japan Pediatric Society (JPS) Fellow Exchange Program, expanding SPRās network of pediatric researchers beyond North America.
SPRās Call for New Active Members occurs each year from mid-May to mid-July. For more information about SPR membership, please visit theĀ SPR website.
