The Society for Pediatric Research Announces Dr. Ann Chahroudi as 2025-2028 Strategy and Operations Officer

HOUSTON, January 28, 2025 ā The Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) is pleased to announce Ann Chahroudi, MD, PhD, from Emory University School of Medicine, as the incoming Strategy and Operations Officer for the 2025-2028 term. She will serve as the Strategy and Operations Officer beginning June 1, 2025, during which time she will help push forward the society’s mission and strategic objectives.
Dr. Chahroudi is currently a Professor and Vice Chair for Basic Science and Career DevelopmentĀ in theĀ Department of Pediatrics at the Emory School of MedicineĀ and Childrenās Healthcare of Atlanta. SheĀ is a leading researcher in pediatric infectious diseases, focusing on HIV cure strategies and the neurologic impact of early-life Zika virus infection. She has received prestigious honors, including the NIH MERIT Award, and serves as the Co-Program Director of the PAVE Martin Delaney Collaboratory.

Dr. Chahroudi will succeed Todd Florin, MD, MSCE, who has served as the Strategy and Operations Officer since 2019. Under Dr. Florin’s leadership, SPR has implemented innovative programs, expanded its reach, maintained fiscal strength, and strengthened efforts aligned with SPR’s mission, including leading the development of SPR’s new strategic plan.
Dr. Florin shared, “Serving as SPR’s Strategy and Operations Officer has been an incredibly impactful experience for me. It’s been an honor to work to advocate on behalf of child health research and researchers. I’m proud of what SPR has accomplished during this time, and I’m confident that Dr. Chahroudi will usher a new era of growth for our society.”
SPR extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Florin for his outstanding service and congratulates Dr. Chahroudi on her new leadership role. As the Strategy and Operations Officer, Dr. Chahroudi will continue to drive the society’s mission and supporting pediatric research at every stage of their career.
